Plan Your Vision For 2022!

With the start of a new year upon us, the inevitable questions about what we plan for the new year and what our resolutions are pop up and permeate our thoughts and conversations with friends and coworkers.

It's easy to separate work and personal visions and forget that they are often intrinsically tied to each other, but before we get ahead of ourselves, let Role Play at the Olson Agency (RPOA) help you not only realize your goals for the new year, but plan for how to achieve them.

It Starts With A Goal

There is truth to the popular sayings that "The journey is its own reward" and to "Stop and smell the roses," but even those imply that there was a purpose in mind from the beginning! Why were you journeying to begin with? What was the path you were on when you found the roses?

In order to follow a Vision, you need to set a goal. This should be something that you desire to gain or accomplish in 2022. It might be something related to your Insurance Agency, Sales Quotas, or Self-Improvement at work, or it might be something personal - a new car, a boat, pay-off student loans.

It might even be something vague like, "I want to reach my full potential!" These kinds of goals are good because they leave you with room to decide exactly what that means as you plan your Vision for Success in 2022.

Begin Bringing Your Vision Into Focus

Much as in our everyday lives, RPOA focuses on using Role Play to help Insurance Agents and Agencies reach their fullest potential, since Role Play is practice for the real thing, it also requires that you have some sense of where you want to go so you can practice the specific target needs to get you to your goal!

Building a vision and Role Play have a lot in common - you have to use your imagination and foresight to picture what you are doing and what you want to achieve.

To start, you need to ask yourself two very important questions:

  1. Why do I want to reach this goal?
  2. What will it take to achieve this goal?

As you can see, understanding your Vision requires you to ask questions of yourself so that you can start looking for answers.

For example, let's say your goal is to become the highest-performing Agent at your Agency in 2022. In and of itself, that doesn’t really explain much about the path you need to take - your Vision.

By answering our questions, we can start looking ahead and truly understanding what we need to do to get to those goals.

Continuing our example, let’s say you decide you answer as follows:

  • I want to reach this goal so that I can become an Independent Agent.
  • I am going to have to increase my sales by at least 30%, and I am going to have to budget my time with my family better to gain the time I’ll need to attend seminars and training.

Both of those answers are great!

These answers don't tell you everything you need to do - instead they help you see where you're going and how to choose the path to get there. It's important to note that even if you don't achieve these same goals in the same way you plan here, as stated earlier, "The journey is its own reward!" And more importantly, you will inevitably find yourself having gotten closer to your goal by the end of the year if you keep these things in mind throughout the year.

Let's Get Down To Business

Some example questions include:

  1. What do I want to earn?
  2. How many sales do I need?
  3. How many quotes do I need to get the required sales?

You might not realize it, but just by starting to answer these questions, you have begun the path to Role Play!
